Default How much salary should I ask for?

I have a job interview on Friday morning for a company that posts their hourly commercial labor rates (CLR) on their website. How much percentage of the CLR should I ask for when negotiating a salary?

Thanks,

Greg

I guess it depends. What rate range do they quote, and for what kind of work? Also, what benefits are offered? A large part of compensation can be benefits. Also, the rate quoted includes the rates of valuable experienced employees, not just fresh faces. Finally, overhead/profit mark-up is often 25-40% of actual costs.

Without knowing any more information, I would think 50% might be possible, but that's just a wild guess. Do you know anyone in the industry who could shed a little light on starting wages?

CareerBuilder has a salary calculator for various industries in different regions. I might not be perfect, but it could be a starting point.
