I am considering relocating to Culpeper. I like the Friendship Heights Apts. I will be moving from NJ. I also like the fact they have the bus service Culpeper Connection as I don't drive. I wanted to know if anyone has any advice and can tell me if being a woman living alone is safe in Culpeper.
Also is the cancer center at the local hospital good, I am being treated for Breast Cancer and need a good cancer center to go for treatment.

Hi there--

I think you might be better off moving to a larger area with more medical options. I hear Richmond has an expansive cancer clinic as part of the Massey Center. Also, bus connections might be tighter in a smaller place like Culpeper. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery.

Also, is there an area where you can be near friends and family by any chance?

My ladyfriend is also recovering from cancer. I wish you all the best.

I agree with the sentiment to move to a more populated area in the direction of DC or even Richmond. Prince William County may have the best combination of low cost (by Northern Virginia standards) and decent public transportation options. The closer you can get to Manassas or Woodbridge, the better.

When I first looked at this post it sounded more like a personal ad.

Post not a personal ad

Its not a personal ad. I am seriously considering moving to Culpeper, I like the fact its not a big town and the stats look good.

Thanks for all the best wishes. I don't need full cancer treatment though, been there done that. I just need a monthly hormonal shot.

I am about 95% sure I am moving to Culpeper. A move all alone is scarey and going to a basically unknown town. I am just really looking for information on the Friendship Apts and the safety of the area in geberal.

Depending on one's view, Culpeper County may not necessarily be considered to be in Northern Virginia by long-time locals. Relentless sprawl has advanced to the point where it may be considered on the periphery if not part of another region. You may also benefit from posting this in the general Virginia forum.

Out of curiousity, I went on the Apartment Ratings website and found some reviews for Friendship Heights Apts. It seemed to get the most positive reviews from the Culpeper properties listed.

Default NO on friendship heights...

sorry this is a little late...Culpeper is a nice enough little town, but if you are in need of frequent health care, I would go more towards DC. Most importantly, Culpeper as a whole is very safe...EXCEPT for friendship heights. It's kind of known as a ghetto low income housing with lots of crime. I would venture to say that most crime in Culpeper happens in or around there. Good luck!

Friendship Heights isn't very friendly. Culpeper Hospital and its staff are great, but I would choose something other than that complex to live. I love Culpeper, but the crime rate is a little high for the size. If you can afford it Warrenton is very nice and Faquier Hospital is awesome.
