Default Fios High-Speed Internet in Arlington?

I have lived in Arlington, VA (Court House area) for about a year now, and I have really been wanting to switch internet providers. Cable co (won't say the name but it rhymes w/ "Momblast" just raised the rates, and their "high-speed" is way too slow.

My parents (back in Boston) have Fios and it is super fast, but when I went on to the Verizon web site it says that "it is not available at your address yet." I've seen them installing new lines lately, and my co-worker that lives about 1 mile away from me (Clarendon) just got fios.

Does anyone in Arlington or surrounding towns have fios? Also wondering if anyone has info on when it is being installed in Arlington...some parts of the town have it, but some don't.

Thanks!

Most of Arlington now has Fios but their website address tool is extremely inaccurate. I recommend that you call Verzion and ask them about it. Say you saw trucks installing lines. Same thing happened to me, website said Fios wasn't available but after I called (and waited a few days for an actual ENGINEER to call me back) I found out that my block had it.

I have had it (TV, phone and internet) since May '07. It is awesome and service, rarely needed, is first class. I live in Ballston across 66 in the neighborhoods.

My old building in Pentagon City was getting it in July when I moved out. Of course, the process had been going on since the end of 07, so it seems like, even after the lines have been laid, it takes a while for the service to be tested and offered to the public.

I have FiOS at my new place, and yes, it is a million times better than Comcast. Cheaper too.
