I live in Island Creek (22315) and have been looking for taxi's to the airports. Does anyone have any companies they would recommend for getting to Reagan National?

Also - I may take the metro back from the airport when I return and would go to the Franconia/Springfield stop. Are there always taxi's at the metro station? I do not have anyone that could pick me up.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can go to the Regan national website and see taxi information or shuttle information. Also any cab company in VA can come pick you up. Call red Top, yellow cab and they will be more than happy to accomodate you.

I have been to the Franconia-Springfield Metro stop at all times of the day and night and have always seen at least a couple of cabs there. That's not a guarantee of course but you could take the phone numbers of a couple of cab companies with you and call one if no cab is there.

My husband takes a cab to National about 3 times a month from Kingstowne. We always use Alexandria Yellow Cab. We call the day before and they are always there on time. He doens't use the metro because sometimes it isn't easy metroing with luggage. It will cost you about $35-40 to get the National.

I'd say keep a few cab co's numbers with you just in case, but I wouldn't schedule a cab on the way back ahead of time - I tried doing this, but with the way the airlines are with delays lately (I heard approx 100% delayed...) it is too difficult to estimate what time you will get to the metro station.

There will almost always be cabs waiting there.

Also if your work is paying for it, stay w/ the cab, but if you are footing the bill definitely look into other airport transportation co's like Super Shuttle - I've used them and they do take longer...but it is worth comparing prices ahead of time.

Have you looked into supershuttle? They're the blue vans you see around town all the time. Depending on your zip code, they can pick you up at your doorstep or pick you up from the airport for $18-45
