I don't have a #, but I know the train & bus fees are MUCH cheaper!

You don't need a number, you flag them down. There aren't nearly as many in Arlington compared to DC but I've never had a problem getting one to stop on any major street in my immediate neighborhood.

i really can/t imagine hailing a taxi in arlington. the reason i ask is because in north jersey (where I just moved from) the numbers listed wouldn't always work. I did see that enviro cab thing and I guess I'll just call that. Mostly I'll take the metro, but I was concerned about it not running frequently late at night or at all. Good to know that you can hail one in DC. thx

When in Arlington, call Red Top Cab 703 333-3333

VA cabs can transport into DC but are not allowed to pick up passengers in DC. Some will anyway though, so if you see a cab with a red top, start hailing.

I mean you don't have to hail one in Arlington if you don't want to, but I honestly know few people who take the time to call them. The wait is usually long and at least in my neighborhood (Court House/ Clarendon area) cabbies are always driving around looking for fares.

It's been many years since I lived in Arlington, but I always called Red Top Cab when I needed a taxi. They were always reliable and even came through when Super Shuttle failed to show up for an early morning business trip.

Red Top Cab was always the most reliable for me. Depending on where you are in Arlington you may not be able to hail one. I lived off King & S. Wakefield St. for two years and would have been hard pressed to try to find an open cab in my area.
