Default Need Help!!! Just got to NOVA and may have to head back to MD

Ok, here it's the scenario. Just moved to Ashburn, right off the Greenway. I work in DC Washington Hospital Center ( Usually takes me 50 mins no traffic as I have flexible hours in the morning) But just as I settled there I got a job opportunity @ Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (Funny thing I just moved from Owings Mills MD, 30 minutes in metro to Hopkins). I think the opportunity is great but I don't know about the commute. Can someone help me please
Or give me options, I have been here for 2 months and I already love it so moving back to MD would be a last resort

In all honesty, with someone of your background, you should have moved somewhere in between.

When you said you moved, did you buy or lease?

How much more money is it to switch jobs?

Will they cover your early termination of your lease?

For a fact, the commute from Ashburn to JHU will kill you, both time, physical, and monetary wise.

I wish I had, but I didn't expect a call from Hopkins. Any idea how long will it take me? I can try to get help with the termination fee of my lease.

I just checked google and it said about 70 miles one way. From 1.5 to 2 hours in moving traffic.

Yikes!

As a nurse, I would think you want to be close to your job, so you can cash in when someone calls in sick and/or you can be on call.

I guess the BIG question is how much do you like your new job at Washington Hospital Center. If you think the job at John Hopkins might be better and offer more advancement etc., I would certainly consider the move. John Hopkins is definitely an excellent hospital with a good reputation. Unfortunately, you would have no other choice but to move back to MD. The commute to downtown Baltimore from Asburn would be absolutely awful. Between traffic, the time spent traveling back and forth and possible adverse weather conditions during the winter months are all considerations that you must take into account. Just a thought, maybe you could advertise on www.craigslist.com and find someone that might be interested in taking over your lease, that's if your rental company would allow this. Ausburn is a nice area to live and you might get lucky in finding someone to take over the lease. Good luck in your difficult decision!

It's possible that a job more than 70 miles away is a good reason to break a lease. Check your lease to see if there is a clause about that.
