Hello,
We have an opportunity to move to the area and we've looked around Chantilly but wanted something a little bit more rural, away from traffic. Does anyone know anything about Catharpin. We only drove a bit through it. We love the large lots and trees. I know it has a lot of horse properties and is not a large area. I'm wondering if it's too rural...hard to drive during snow/rain...roads not properly paved, internet connection spotty (important because we have to telecommute. Anyone live there that can give me some info? We work at home so communting isn't a factor but we have small children so we'd like neighbors who have children...etc. Are most of the people in the area of the older population? I know we'd probably have to go to Chantilly or Manassas to get to the shops, parks..etc. Thanks so much!

I've lived in NoVa since '82 and never heard of it - does that help? LOL - it must be REALLY rural.

I live in Haymarket and Catharpin Road is pretty nice, however it's a real pain to get out of there because 234 is busy and so is rt 55.. Seriously if you want to experience it, try driving thru at 8am on a Tuesday morning. Then make your decision. Good luck.

Catharpin is not in the middle of no where. Pass the Battlefields in Manassas and you are almost in Catharpin. Nice older and newer custom built homes and horse farms. Yes, the traffic on 29 & 234 is bad but traffic is that way everywhere in NOVA . You could try looking in Nokesville too for another alternative.
