Relocating to Mclean from Atlanta
Hi everyone,
We are looking for an apartment in the Mclean are would like your feedback on the same. Its really confusing considering the (high)price and distance away from work. In my case..My husband has an offer from a company in Mclean (Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101) and we are looking for a reasonably priced nice apartment that can be close to either drive or use the metro. Any feedback is deeply appreciated.
Thanks
A.Kamat

You need to be more specific on "reasonably" priced. Also, where exactly along Georgetown Pike will his workplace be? He will need to plan to drive or take a bus (usually not very convenient) because there is no Metro subway service available in McLean, so some idea of how a commute is tolerable would also be helpful. Georgetown Pike is in the middle of the most expensive real estate in northern Virginia, so there will be a tradeoff between length of commute and reasonableness of price.

Thanks for the quick response.
His company is located at 6300 Georgetown Pike. We are exactly trying to strike that balance between the apartment price (probably can stretch from 1500-1700) and commute (limit it to around 20-30mins)...I am planning to look for a job too in the biotech companies out there so probably having a access to public transit would make it more viable.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the same.

In McLean/Tysons, you have Lillian Court (an upscale condominium where you can find rentals) and the Rotonda (another condo, older with larger units, very nice). There are others I don't know quite as well but that rate well. If this is OK to do, I would recommend the website apartmentratings. I mean, you could go to Falls Church or Vienna, but why not live close to your job? I assume 2 bedrooms might be 1400-1600, but you could find slightly less or more. You could find a 1 bedroom for maybe $1200 and up (less for places not as nice).

If you want to look for a bio-tech job, try looking near the NIH or CDC government buildings are.

There are a couple of places in the center of Vienna that are in the 1200-1400 range and are either 2 or 3 bedroom units available right now.
They are also about a 15-30 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the office on Georgetown pike.
Walking distance to most grocery stores, as well as 2 desi restaurants & a desi grocery store.
