Thanks everybody, keep the data flowing. My employer has several facilites in NoVa, so location will most likely be located in one of those: Falls Church, Reston, or Springfield.
Another question: does NoVa have any public Montessori schools. We're sending our kids to private Montessori in Hampton Roads because it is somewhat affordable. Private Montessori in NoVa is crazy expensive + housing being so high, private school is out of question for us.
Thanks

Yes, there are some SFH's in the mid-400's, but not in the Oakton proper area. Mostly a few miles out to the north and west...

Most of our suggestions still hold true- stick to cities mentioned here- Oakton Vienna etc. I am not aware of any montessouri public school - if so- we in Vienna would be putting my toddlers there in the near future.. best wishes!

Oakton - 22124....great schools and access to pretty much everywhere...metro access as well...although Single Family will be hard to find here....townhomes are good size and have good yards....

Lowes Island Elementary School is excellent, and homes in the neighborhood are now down enough in price that you could probably find one in that budget. Lowes Island is also a great neighborhood for raising a family, especially if you like hiking. It's right on the Potomac, with plenty of parks and trails.

I second Middleridge - nice big houses too.
Burke also.
