Now, today has what I'd call the most idyllic weather for kayaking yet! Crisp, clear, almost sparkling. Don't you wish it could stay this way all year?

By the way, L'Shana Tova to everyone who is celebrating Rosh Hashanah.

We thought that, too ... until we pulled into Mason Neck this morning and got ready to put the kayaks in the water. There was just too much wind. We ended up walking along one of the trails close to the water, and even there the wind was whipping.

I took some pictures - it was (and still is) a gorgeous day. But for those of us who are at our best when the water is calm, today sure wasn't our idea of idyllic weather for kayaking.

Forecast for tomorrow is also windy, but not as windy, and if we head to our usual haunt - the Occoquan - perhaps we'll be able to get some paddling in.

Oh, I forgot about the wind today! You're right, when it gets windy paddling starts feeling too much like work.
