I'm not sure of beer festivals but I'm sure they are out there. There is Old Dominion Brewery in Loudoun County. You could start by checking with them.

There are more wine & cheese festivals then I can list. A nice one that is coming up is the Long Branch House (Millwood) Hot Air Balloon Festival. I believe it is Oct 17-19. The balloons go up at night on Friday and is pretty neat but also just as neat during the day.

Out in Bealton, VA there is the airplane shows that they do plus some balloon shows (one just passed).

Taste of Culpepper is on October 12.

Fauquier County Farm Tour is on October 11.

Go for a day of picking apples in Markham, VA. Beautiful drive.

Leeslyvania & Sky Meadow State Parks are nice for hiking.

I believe Reston is bringing back it's Oktoberfest which is Sat Oct. 11

Occoquan Fall Craft Show is Sept 27 & 28

Chili Cookoff is Sat. Sept 27 at Manassas Pavillon

Fairfax HS Holiday Craft Show Nov. 15-16

Fairfax Fall Festival October 11.

Nokesville Brunswick Stew which is normally every 3rd Saturday in October

The pumpkin patches at Cox Farms in Centreville and Burke Nursery in Burke are big hits with my kids every year.

They have haunted hay rides, gigantic slides, fresh cider, live entertainment, pony rides, animal exhibits, etc.

That looks interesting.
Since Old Dominion was bought, they have closed their restaurant and have stopped tours. I bet they don't do their festival anymore.

Another fall classic: Go to the driving range at Algonkian Park and watch the deer chasing the balls. Don't worry, nobody ever hits them. They seem to have an uncanny ability to step aside at the last minute.

This is an old thread, so the dates will be different. But I'd thought I'd bump it to give some of our new residents an idea of some of the things there are to do around here in the fall months.

Say, where is Normie? I don't think I've seen her in awhile...or maybe she posts in threads I don't read...
