How to move around culpeper and madison without a car
Hi,
I am a foreign journalist and I'm about to go to the US to cover the elections. I would like to spend a day in Culpeper and also to visit nearby Madison, but I do not have a car.
I Know that I can get to Culpeper from DC, where I will be based, by train, by would it be a way to get from Culpeper to Madison?
Also, could you advise me a place to stay in Culpeper that is in walking distance in a safe area?
Thanks!

Do you drive at all? If you have a license, check out a zip car.

Ok, thanks for the ideas... I can't drive, though. I can try and get a cab, but i'd rather do it in a cheaper transportation.

Make a friend and get them to show you around! Really, tho--there's little in the way of public transport out there--both are considered to be in the "country"--no big city amenities!

Here is the link to the connector bus in Culpeper. Give them a call and see if they can help you on how to get to Madison.

The train from Culpeper to DC won't be travelling very often. It's part of the AMTRAK national system and isn't considered a commuter train.
Hopefully the Culpeper bus info already suggested will help. Otherwise, I'd suggest finding housing in at least Prince William or Loudoun Counties if conserving your budget is part of your goals.
