Default Commute to N. Arlington?

My husband works in N. Arlington, near Virginia Square.

We live near Fairfax City. We're not crazy about it. We're big walkers, and nothing here is very walkable. However, we do like being so close to the Orange Line. My husband has a straight, easy Metro commute to work.

Anyway, we've got to move next year. Where would you live if you commuted to N. Arlington, liked to walk a lot, and REALLY wanted to use public transportation to get to work? Price matters, we'd like to keep it under $2200 to rent 3 bedrooms. (We've got kids.)
