Need Info on how long it takes to get from Franconia to Union Sta. on Blue line?
Hi - I'm hoping to get some help here. I don't travel on the subways and my sister is in town and needs to catch Amtrak back home from Untion Station tomorrow in the morning.
Her Amtrak train leaves Union Station at 10 am.
So - IF she leaves Franconia Springfield at 8am or so - How long (rush hourish I would imagine) will it take her to get to Union Sation? Anyone know? And should she leave earlier?
She doesn't want to switch trains so I guess the blue line is the only option. Looks like a lot of stops but I just don't have a clue.
I tried Google but I can't find any info on how long trips take and I do understand it can vary. A "range" would be so helpful. Thanks...

Which stop is Union Station? I don't see that as a stop. If it's any help: I take Blue Line from King St. to Metro Center and it's approximately 25 mins.
Edit: Oh, I see that's off the Orange Line - she could transfer at Metro Center or Rosslyn - I'd give it an hr. just to be safe.

sorry, another edit: She could take the Yellow Line (it's shorter) and transfer from there, that would cut some time off.

Hey- Thanks for such a quick reply!
Ok - My map shows that the blue line and red line go to Union Station
Greater Greater Washington
Map above.
She's got luggage and is a bit of a princess and just wants to sit on one train... Once she gets into NY she has to switch to a train so she wants to transfer as little as possible.

Blue Line doesn't go to Union Station. She would have to transfer at Metro Center. Traveling from Franconia-Springfield, she has no choice.
Metro - Metrorail System Map
If it is that big a deal to her, tell her to take a taxi. However, that's going to co$t.

Thanks for the map but I'm sure confused now. The other link I posted shows the red and blue line going through Union Station... Hmmm
I could either drop her at King street - Yellow line and she'd have to transfer to the red... Question though - Anyone know how much a taxi would cost?

The map you posted is someone's dream, The blue line does not go to Union Station. Get on Yellow at Huntington and switch to Red line at Gallery Place. That's quicker than Blue to Red,

I was looking at a tiny map, at first I thought it was Red but then I thought it was Orange... bottom line as others have said: Blue line doesn't go there.
Sorry: princesses don't get to sit on one line from your location

Transferring is no big deal. She'll be fine.
