I've got one (Waffle House) about 4 miles away, but alas...we are outside the beltway in PW County.

Steak salads should have fries on them! Nobody puts fries on their salad around here. I always order a side of fries so that I can top my steak salad with them.

NY pizza is geasy, cheesy, spicy and the slices are very large - you have to eat them folded like New Yawker -
Purists like tomato pie - which is totally different than a pizza......
I cant mention where I am from or VRE will get mad - but aaah pizza, bagels, canolies....

Have you tried Chutzpah's?

I'm not from NY so my deli knowledge is not what yours is I'm sure, but I've lived a lot of places with good deli's and this is the best I've tried in the DC area.

Emeril's not even cajun, although he is of French-Canadian descent and the man CAN cook. He's welcome in my home anytime

Just moved back to the DC area, and I am psyched to again be eating hard shell blue crabs smothered in Old Bay seasoning. You can't really get them outside of the mid-atlantic region.

They didn't always look so great, but they always had those "A" signs posted by the Board of health so they must have been ok

We can't find anything like that around here, if anyone knows of one we'd love to hear of it--anything within about an hours drive, and we'd check it out for sure!
So true. I came from the Inland Empire of So.Cal and I miss Los Albertos. I also miss In & Out and Fatburger. And Food 4 Less. Groceries out here in northern Virigina cost way too much. Even with their lower sales tax (5% vs. 7.75%) groceries are still costing me about $25% more than what I was paying back in Riverside, CA.
