We are looking to take a trip over Thanksgiving to NYC, and will be taking the Megabus from Metro Center. I had hoped to drive to the Vienna station, and park there from Tuesday until late Friday, when we'll get back. The Metro web page says that there are only 3 stations that have overnight parking, and none are close. What risks are there to go ahead and park at the Vienna station parking lot for multiple days - do they ticket/tow, or is it just the risk of the car being broken into/stolen? Anyone tried this lately, or know how safe it is (from being towed or having my car stolen)? Are there other options to park overnight at a reasonable price near any of the Metro stops close to Vienna?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why not just drive the extra 15-20 minutes to Franconia (assuming its not rush hour) where they do have multi-day parking?

Default overnight parking

I'm doing exactly the same thing this Sat., park my car at the Vienna Metro and go to Rossylyn Metro and take the Vamoose bus to NYC for $25/one way and come back on Mon. afternoon. I left a message for anyone from Parking in Arlington County : Environmental Services : Arlington, Virginia to suggest a parking garage that can accomodate my car for those days . They called back and suggested it would be best to park at the Vienna Metro and go to Rosslyn since Rosslyn/Arlington Metro's parking lot gets full right away and is only good for 24 hrs., in short, you can't leave your car overnight. There's a parking near the Palomar Hotel called Colonial Parking (suggested by Vamoose as well) and they charge $18/day. The Vienna Metro parking only will cost $1/day for the weekend and $4.50(I think) for Monday. Hope this helps! I called 703-228-0650 for the Arlington parking, Mr. Estes (I think his name is) was very helpful! Hope this helps!

Default Overnight parking

There are signs posted at the Vienna station prohibiting overnight parking. The attendant told me that parking is not allowed and that this is enforced. On weekends, I have parked my car at the local high school (Oakton), a short walk from the station. I have also driven to DC and parked in a garage. You might find parking at the West Falls Church station or the Dunn Loring station on the dates you are looking at. I don't know if they allow overnight parking. Along the metro corridor in Arlington, there are tons of privately owned parking garages.

as this was several years ago, I wonder if anyone knows if they've somehow eased their restrictions for overnight parking at the Vienna Metro station in the last six years

Seeing as there is no information for multi-day parking at the Vienna station, it looks like nothing has changed:

Metro - Rail - Parking - Daily Parking

It is officially "banned" but people do it all the time and aren't towed. I drive by Franconia Metro's garage late at night all the time and always see lots of cars in there.

VRE332 is wrong too. You're not allowed to park overnight in VRE lots, at least not in Manassas. But people do it all the time and get away with it anyway.

For a peace of mind, what about taking a cab to Vienna (assuming you are close to Vienna since you wanted to drive there)?

which begs the next question, what taxicab company do you recommend? One that is reliable, won't be late, and won't try to gouge me
