VA has a rep for being racist? With whom? Maybe 20-30 years ago, but not now.

Give me a break! Why did this very old thread get resurrected? I live in Gainesville and am in a community that is a mix of ethnicities and has African Americans and Hispanics in it. Nothing is further from the truth. On my small street, a cul-de-sac, there's one Hispanic family, one African American family, and four Caucasian families, plus my wife is Chinese while I'm Caucasian. We all get along great, the kids all play together, etc. etc. It is just a small sample, but in my neighborhood I have NOT seen any evidence of racism since I moved to Gainesville in October 2008.

This thread is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Some people like to shout racist wherever they can, or try to stir up controversy.

I think the people who associate VA with racism are those who know nothing about it except that it was the seat of the Confederate capital. I hear more racist talk in one day when I go visit my boyfriend's eastern European family in Queens than I have heard my entire time in Virginia (about 16 years split up between the 80's, 90's and present).
