Go Obama! I'm counting on you for some real change... I say this as I'm scared to death with all the budget cuts I'm hearing about around Virginia... let's invest in our schools, in public transport, in infrastructure... if you call THAT socialism (making our country a better place to live) then I guess I'm all for it.

You are correct to an extent, but what you are proposing is that America is going to become a Communist society, which isn't going to happen. There's a difference between a distribution of wealth based on a partial amount of money, and that of your whole salary.

Were your ears closed when Sen. McCain was prancing around bragging about how he wanted the Federal government to purchase up bad mortgages? Were your eyes shut when he voted in favor of the recent Wall Street bail out package? Let's face it. The majority of Americans apparently WANT socialism now if over 100,000,000 of them voted for a socialist-leaning candidate in either party.

I wish McCain had voted against the bailout package. I think it would have seperated him from Bush, and just would've been the right thing to do.

I'm the rare breed in this nation known as a hybrid of a social liberal AND fiscal conservative. I believe in taking the government OUT of regulating people's personal lives as well as preventing the government from enacting socialist financial practices and policies. It makes me sick to my stomach as an upcoming CPA to hear the phrase "hundreds of billions" tossed around casually as if it's just mere pocket change. Who is going to pay for these past eight years of financial mismanagement? My generation. Who is going to pay for what is now becoming a quagmire in Iraq, the Wall Street bail out(s), the potential purchasing of bad mortgages, the potential purchasing of bad credit card debt, ANOTHER round of failed stimulus checks, etc.? MY GENERATION! I don't want to be paying higher taxes during all of the formative years of my career to pay for the mistakes of my forefathers.

That doesn't even make sense. If we go by the definition you just gave then taxes in general are socialist. Taxes are just that... taking money from the owners and transferring that ownership to the government to pay for societal needs. Because you know we actually do need things like schools, roads, public transit, etc to properly function.

Like I said earlier, the notion that it only takes a 4% increase in taxes on the highest income earners to go from American capitalism at its alleged best to socialism is ridiculous.

Believe it or not, it's not as rare as you'd think. Many people I know (most of whom call themselves "Republican") think this way, myself included. It's almost more Libertarian than anything.

I never really understood how one party can be all for small government, except for how it relates to your personal morals and social views, and how another can be all for regulation and government involvement except for personal issues. It just doesn't seem to fit

They should put a cap on the last hour of trading on the Dow. Seems like it does good all day, then at 4pm ,it drops 200 points.

Voting is a a PERSONAL CHOICE/VOICE- you have yours and I have mine- geez- popular vote was not that far apart - I know what the results are and always hope for a great US/economy etc- I do applaud you for acknowledging the votes are for socialism (vs those who say it's not).

Obama is proposing to take away from his definition of classes and redistributing wealth- it's not putting more money in programs etc.- it's making everyone "middle class".. To each their own interpretation of Obama's future- we will live through it and see what it actually is..
