Absolutely. I can't stress enough that house prices coming down is a GOOD thing for families and for the economy as a whole. Sure, there will be some short term pain for those who overextended themselves, but in the long term, the economy is much more viable if people spend less money on housing and have more 'disposable income' to spend on other things.
If you're willing to consider Loudoun County, and if you're brave enough to buy a new Ryan home (I've heard some bad stories), there are some communities where new single family detached homes start in the $370's. If you want to be in Fairfax County, the prices have come down considerably, but they're still around $500k for a new single family home in the western part of the county.
Good luck!
