It looks like Widewater Village is in Stafford Co., down around Aquia.

You can check the Fredericksburg newspaper online - see: Fredericksburg.com - use their search box, key in Widewater Village, and there are several pages of links to stories about that community.

About how far away are the communites you mentioned from the base?

Technically less than 5 mins...I would say 2 mins. You are right beside Quantico if you get a home on Fuller rd. I think the Quantico golf course was in the area.
Aquia is nice too but its crazy country down there but you have alot of traffic for Quantico and FBI Academy that is down there. They are still building up Aquia. One garrisonville Rd you have a nice shopping center with everything you need!

Hi Thanks for all the helpful info.
I thought we might have a place locked on in the Widewater Village area but it is not looking good right now. We were focusing on the Aquia Harbor/Wide Water area. We were looking to buy but may have to rent for awhile. Does anyone know of or have friends that have rentals in those areas?
What other areas North or South of the base should I consider. I think Hubby is really not wanting a long commute, so proximity to base is important as well as good schools and safety. Any other housing areas in Stafford I should look at??????????
Thanks again for all the info and helpful advice you NOVA experts are sharing.

I think most of the communities north of the base (within 20 minutes) have been mentioned earlier. Have you checked all of them out?

Marines that work with my husband on base (near the town of Quantico), that live in Aquia Harbor, have told my husband it takes then about 1/2 hour in the morning to get to work--because of traffic backup. That really surprised me because it only takes him about 40-45 minutes all the way from Bristow--but I guess that's because there is no traffic on the 619.
I can't remember if you already said, what part of base will he be working on (generally, I'm not expecting a specifc unit or buiding answer )
That could make a difference too.
Has he tried driving the distance between the potential neighborhoods/specific homes during the same times he would normally be commuting (so early mornings on weekdays at the exact time he would typically be leaving, and late afternoon/early evening at the exact time he would be leaving)...see how long it takes to get in the gate...how long the drive from the gate to his office is?
I think that's really important to truly gain an understanding of what the commute would be like. With traffic, commute time can easily double (or more) from what the drive is like in the middle of the day on Sunday...

The more I think about it, the more I really think that the Ashland subdivision, and neighborhoods immediately surrounding it that also feed into Ashland elementary, will be the best combination of what you're looking for.

I don't think that drive would be any more than 10 or 15 minutes in the morning.
