I live in 22039. It takes me 15 mins to get to the Ft Belvoir commissary..of course this is once everyone has gone to work! There are many ways to get to Ft. Belvoir so many options in where you live. As with most bases, the area directly outside the gates is not desirable. When we came here we looked at 22152, 22153, 22030, 22015, 22039. We have been happy with the schools in Fairfax county. If your child tests into the gifted program they will be send to a gifted school no matter where you live. I have one in a GT school. One thing you need to be prepared for is the schools are very crowded and plans are for them to get much worse!

Well, I had a crazy long reply typed up, but I guess I was not logged in and it vanished, darnit.

So my hubby got the official offer today and after we figure in the cost of living of Colorado Springs to the metro DC area, we are pretty much breaking even... the redeeming quality is that his first year on the job before he qualifies for a raise will be spent in Iraq where he can bring in the big bucks and we can stay put paying off bills and polishing up our house to get top dollar when we go to sell. At least I will now have a year to research areas, right?

You guys have been very helpful and have given me a ton of awesome resources. I hope we find something perfect in the Spring of 2010 and I look forward to getting to know you all over the next year!

Heather
