What is the best Chinese restaurant?
-looking for a good dim sum and traditional Chinese food, not fast food

What is the best Vietnamese restaurant?
-looking for a nice pho

What is the best Thai restaurant?
-looking for a nice pad thai (not interested in Tara Thai)

What is the best Japanese restaurant?
-looking for fresh sushimi

The more authentic, the better. I'm not looking for American Fusion or something like P.F. Chang's.

And while you are here...

Where is the best Asian grocery store?

Thanks!

This place is pretty famous and I liked it:
Peking Gourmet Inn

For Thai, Tara Thai in Vienna is good.

PG Inn looks good! I'll have to check that out.

We have a Tara Thai here at the mall in Richmond, VA ---didn't really care for it. Looking for more traditional and less Americanized.

I've only really had Thai at Tara Thai, so I must confess I don't know from authentic... I don't know truly authentic Chinese cuisine either, but Peking Inn *seemed* pretty darned authentic to me. Definitely no PF Changs!

The best Chinese food hands down is Miu Kee in Falls Church. Another one is Beijing Garden next do the Great Wall Chinese grocery store on Gallows Road, Falls Church

Edit: how are you going to pay for all these with the 55k salary?

Excellent. I'll try those. Does Falls Church have a higher Asian population?

Pay for all of what?

For Thai, I like Sakoontra in Fairfax.

For Asian groceries, check out Super H-Mart in Fairfax City, Merrifield, or Reston.

For Thai, Bangkok 54 in Colombia Pike.
For pho, any place. It doesn't really take much talent to make.

That's a favorite of mine, too, though it's best to go at times when they will be unlikely to be busy. Carryout is quite good too-you need to allow about 20 mins.

Four Sisters (Huong Que) in Falls Church is good too (Vietnamese), and moderately priced.
