Hello to all,

I have posted on this website before regarding relocating to the NOVA area. We are looking into Stafford, Woodbridge, Lakeview areas. My wife is a social worker and we were wondering how the job market in the NOVA area is for social workers. How does one find out about civilian jobs on the military base? Are there certain websites that post jobs?

Commute to DC is an option, but if she doesn't have to then she won't.

Appreciate all the info and Happy New Year to all.

I think you might mean "Lakeridge".
Can she apply with the area school districts?

Maybe she should think about applying for a position as a Social Worker with the federal government. I did when I moved to the DC area, and the pay, benefits, and job security are much better.

Sorry for being a little late.

My wife is a social worker who moved to the northern virginia area...Loudoun County to be exact. It took her two months of sending out resumes and intervewing but in the end she got 3 job offers she got to choose from.

This was a year ago. I dont know how the economy may have effected this.

The economy has affected this SEVERELY!
My wife moved here from Radford, VA. I was already established in Prince William County, VA.

Four months of sending out resumes and she's had a pile of interviews, but everybody loses funding or they have over ten candidates for one or two positions.

The entry level jobs work a social worker to the bone and don't pay enough to rent even the smallest apartment in the D.C. area.
Social Workers, be warned... Stay away from Washington D.C. And by D.C., I mean anywhere from Fredricksburg, VA to Baltimore, MD...
