Moving to Annandale
Hi,
Can anyone tell me more about Annandale? I'm looking to move to the a DC suburb, and Annandale is on the top of my list.
Is it a decent place to live, work and have a small retail business?
Thanks

Most NoVA suburbs are relatively low in crime, have expensive homes, and nightmarish traffic. Annandale is one of the suburbs I know the least about. If you're a foodie, they have some of the best Asian food (authentic Korean) anywhere I've ever been. And, with a more diverse and slightly more urban population than most of the majority-white suburbs that surround it, you may find less expensive housing and rent for setting up a small retail business. It doesn't have a Metro station, however, which a lot of the immediate VA suburbs have to ease the commute.
Personally, I prefer Maryland in every regard except dining options, and possibly crime, both of which may be very important to you! Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Moving To Annandale
Dear Foodie,
Annandale is a great place to live and work. I am in Burke which is right by Annandale and it is also wonderful. Plenty of shopping, restaurants, close enough to enjoy all that D.C. has to offer but not in the middle of it all.
There is a metro about 10 miles from Annandale and less from Burke.

I grew up in Annandale and would not really consider ever moving back. Where are you going to be working? Are you planning on opening a business there?

I was born and raised in Alexandria which is right next to Annandale. Annandale is ok...nothing spectacular. Not much going on there..but, you can drive to D.C. to get out of the house. Alexandria has more malls. Crime rate is low...but housing is through the roof in all of nothern va. townhomes with no yard start at 500k. It's ridiculous. But if you are border line rich...you'll be ok. MD is cheaper and right accross the bridge....but crime rates are high, esp PG County. NOVA is a great place to live and raise a family...but more and more ppl can't afford it. Alexandria has a higher COL than LA.. traffic is rough.

Not desireable. Nearly 100% Korean, Iranian and other undesireables. Skip it if you can. Can't even read the signs there!
