Default Bristow Schools (rezoning)??

Has anyone heard anything regarding any possible 'rezoning' of schools for the residents of Bristow? I know PWC is planning on building a new highschool and elementary school (Kettle Run - 2011). Any other information??

A friend just emailed me on this a few days ago. There's a school board meeting on January 7, in which school board members will vote on whether to continue on schedule with the Kettle Run HS, or, because of budget issues, whether to delay construction yet again and just redistrict to alleviate crowding. As I understand it, this will not just be a little border adjustment, since both Brentsville and Battlefield HS are overcrowded, but they're talking major redistricting, with kids being bussed to some of the eastern schools that have empty seats.

As you can imagine, there's a lot of anger with this proposal, and I urge everyone to attend the Jan 7 vote to insist that the long-promised Kettle Run HS be started as planned. Oh, and BTW, the meeting will be held in that new multi-million $$$ new state-of-the-art Kelly Leadership Building...

I live in Bristow and have a child at Brentsville and I have not heard anything. Where did you all hear about this?

Mominbristow, thanks for the information. My wife is planning on attending. This is very concerning. One of the reasons my wife and I moved to Bristow is so our children could attend the schools there. I guess we'll hold our breath.

Dgtlsunshine, it might be a good idea to attend on Wednesday to see if you might be impacted.

Originally they were suppose to vote on the high school in December but postponed it until January. Yes, there will be major changes if it isn't approved. You can watch the board meeting live via the PWCS website if you don't have Comcast or you can watch the previous board meetings on the PWCS website. It was very interesting as some of the board members want to tighten the belt due to the "budget" concerns! Of course, they had no such concerns when the new school headquarters was built! My thought from watching the meeting: the superintendent and his staff WANTS the school built. They say the price will never be as cheap (the bid was low compared to previous bids). I believe it would have failed if they voted in December but if they can sway one board member to go from "no" to "yes" then it will be approved (assuming all the board members' votes stay the same).

I can't wait until they start talking about the upcoming budget!!!! Now that will be be interesting to see what they cut.

Hi,
I talked with you a while back on here regarding the school situation. Just wondered if you had made any head way on the elem school situation. Also just out of curiosity are you by chance building just off of Robert E. Lee. My son told me he met our prospective new neighbor and she told him her oldest sons name was Vinny. Wondered if by chance it was you guys. Heard they approved the new high school but no news on the elem. rezoning. Good luck.
