Default Relocation to Purcellville/Hillsboro, VA area

I'm considering a move to the area because of it's beauty and slower pace of living, but I'm concerned about my commute to work. I welcome feedback from those of you who live in the area and commute to the Rockville, MD area. I've driven most route options, but mainly on the weekends, so cannot gauge rush hour traffic M-F. I would probably never take the tollroad to the beltway to 270 N; anyone have any experience with White's Ferry or Rte. 15 to Point of Rocks, and then Rte. 28 to Rockville? Thanks!

I don't think your commute would be that bad since you will be going north up to either point of Rocks or the ferry. I'd gop south on 28 to avoid going south on 270 though. From Leesburg to Rockville is 30min. (taking whites ferry and 28) Haven't done this in rush hour though.

Whites ferry is good. but it can get backed -up during commute times and esp. on Fridays. During the winter it can be closed at times due to high water and ice. If we have big rains they get delayed because debris on the river.

Purceville is a great town, it has a neat small downtown area. it has 2 big grocery stores. For main shopping you can head in Leesburg (about 15min) the outlet mall is here as well as IDA LEE rec center. Hillsboro is smaller, more country.

Other areas to consider...
Hamilton...just outside of Puceville (but I like Purceville the "town" better)
Luckettes (growing with houses but not shopping) 1 light, 1 gas station, several antique stores.
Lovettsville.... very close to the bridge at Point of rocks. lots of new houses
(haven't been to see the town)
Round Hill...again another growing place with houses. have to go to Purceville for shopping. nice new elementary school
Philomount and Bluemount are futher south but very nice.
and...
Leesburg... 5 min from whites ferry and about 15min to point of rocks (alittle longer right now because of contruction..20min) you will be going against the 15 traffic mess that commutes south.
good shopping and great schools. and a neat told Historic downtown.
