Mid-Priced Furniture (Alexandria, Woodbridge, Fairfax: to rent, how much, house)

Come June, I'm going to have practically a whole house to furnish.

I don't want cheap IKEA crap (I've had enough of that in my life, and it always breaks!) but I can't afford entirely top-of-the-line, either, considering how much I have to buy at once. Unfortunately.

So what are some decent, mid-priced furniture stores in the area?

Try craigslist -- seriously, you can find nice, used furniture that will meet your budget.

I'd love to, but I drive a sedan. I'd have to rent a truck or pay someone for delivery every time I needed to pick up a piece of furniture. The cost and hassle of that would add up pretty fast! Never mind what my husband and I would do with our infant and toddler while we're trying to move furniture. I'm not ruling it out for one or two pieces, but considering how much furniture we need overall, I'll probably have to hit a store, too.

If you like contemporary, some things at Crate and Barrel are very nice, and mid-priced. But you have to look carefully. IMHO, some stuff is not even medium quality. For higher priced stuff, I have liked the quality, and the service, at Creative Classics in Old Town Alexandria.

Try Havertys in Fairfax or Marlo - not furniture that will last a lifetime like Ethan Allen but O.K. for a good number of years.
There are not many furniture stores in this area believe it or not - you would think there would be more choices.

Even though I go nuts in huge stores, I always seem to find what I need at Belfort Furniture in Sterling. (I think it's in Sterling, right off of rt.28) Many of my friends, rich and not rich, go there because of the huge selection. Good luck!

I also bought a couch at Haverty's as Fairfax Mom mentioned and was really happy with price and service. Plus it's a much smaller store which I like.

Try IMI in Sterling. I got lots of moderately priced stuff with them. The designer who worked with me was terrific. imi Furniture - Northern Virginia

I like both Belfort and Havertys (Belfort better though). Good luck!

I also recommend Belfort, they have good prices and the quality is pretty good for the price.

There's also Value city furniture (stores in in Falls Church, Woodbridge and Frederick) and if you stick to their American signature branded furniture, the quality is not bad.

I've also seen 2-3 furniture outlets on Atlantic Blvd in Sterling, haven't bought from them yet... but they might be worth checking out. You can find their addresses here: Google
