That must have been fun. I always thought that would be a fun place for a first job.

My grandfather was born in 1862 on a little farm near what is now Wolf Trap. I have many relatives buried in the little Andrew Chapel Methodist Cemetery on Route 7. My father, born at home on Route 7 in 1908, loved to tell stories of horse-drawn wagons on dirt Route 7 and playing in the fields near Difficult Run. He died in 1984 and certainly wouldn't recognize Route 7 now!

Yes. Born at Sibley in DC (like others - Fairfax Innova not yet built.) Grew up in Vienna. Memories of: Going with dad to the lumber yard (now site of Whole Foods) and playing in the sawdust. Going to the Western Frontier Town in the Fairfax/Centreville area seeing the staged gunfights, western shows, and playing cowgirl for the day. Saturday roller skating all day long at the Vienna Community Center. Pigtail/ponytail softball at Vienna’s school fields and afterwards going to Conrads (now site of Amphora) for frozen custard. Watching Tysons I mall being built. Later worked there in high school (Sundays off, of course!) and could cruise home down Maple Avenue at 9:30 pm and the traffic lights were on blink and the sidewalks rolled up!

How about Tysons when it was one level?

Yes, I remember it as such. It had the fountain court in front of Hechts and the aviary court with exotic birds between Hechts and Woodies. Across route 123 was, I believe, like an abandoned quarry where we used to four wheel drive and it is now Tysons II.
