Default Ever Lived in an apartment in Court House?

My fiance and I are currently living in an apartment that is about .75 mile away from the Court House metro station, and it has been alright but we are ready to move closer to the Court House metro.

We're looking for these things in an apartment complex:
  • Within walking distance (less than 10 min) from Court House metro station
  • 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, small is fine (i.e. 600-750 Sq. feet)
  • Newer building...doesn't have to be super luxurious, I just don't want any bugs
  • Solid walls/not a ton of noise from heavy feet above
  • Rent Max: $1650/month

So far the ones on our list are:

Courtland Towers
Dittmar Company | Courtland Towers
2201 Wilson Blvd Apts
2201 Wilson Boulevard inĀ*Clarendon | Archstone Apartments
Apartments at Clarendon Market Commons
Residences at the Market Common Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other Arlington apartments for rent from ApartmentRatings.com

Do any of you have other suggestions/recommendations based on your own/friends/co-workers experiences with apartment bldgs in Court House?

Many thanks -Jeff

I knew someone in Courtland Towers and they really liked it. I would definitely check them out.

Thats good to hear - Courtland Towers is the "favorite" right now on my list. They were rated really well on apartmentratings.com, but I take those reviews w/ a grain of salt because sometimes the managers review their own properties on there.

Anyone else been to Courtland Towers, or any other Court House complex?

Yes, I lived in Courtland Towers - no complaints, very nice - kind of boring typical luxury, but fine. I also lived in the Meridian right down the street - very fancy, nice, but expensive.

blossom, if you could choose between Courtland Towers and the Meridian, which one would you pick?

Also, I'm considering the Bennett Park apartments...it is a newer building on Clarendon Blvd. on the block next to Cafe Asia. If any of you have lived (or do live) there, I'd love to get your opinions.

Thanks

are those places under 1650? I live in colonial village which is .4 miles from the courthouse metro station. Its oldish but I like it and my apt is modern and I have never seen a bug. The only bad thing is there is a laundry building instead of in your apt. Oh and its very dog friendly w/ lots of grass. You can find an apt by searching on craigslist because they are condos...

Hi, Courtland Towers is a little bit closer to the metro than The Meridian. It's not a big difference, but being closer always helps. The Meridian is newer, fancier, but effectively I couldn't point to any important differences as far as sound issues, management, etc. (I lived at these places in the 90s). Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with those or the newer option. If someone were really looking for "community" then I would point them to other options, but these are good luxury apartment options for, you know, hard-working DC professionals. The Meridian did have a nice game room - not sure about Courtland Towers ... For some reason, I think the walls were 'thicker' at Courtland Towers, but I don't remember sound issues at either place.

we lived in courtland towers twice (this year and last) in temp. corporate apartment (total 7 months). We liked it a lot. Lots of amenities. Don't have anything to compare it too though. For someone who is used to living in a house, the noise was not significant at all. We lived in 2 different apartments at 2 differnt times. Once we were on the corner - no noise, the 2nd time we were in the middle, a little bit more noise. I wouldn't recommend any apartment with 16 as last digits. The basketball court is under these and you can hear it up to the 7th floor (maybe higher).

I can't tell you all how helpful this info is!

So now I've visited Courtland Towers and The Meridian.

Both were excellent - so now I'm just trying to make the final decision.
