We're just becoming friends after bumping into each other continuously @ the elementary school, and she's invited us over for an open house in a few weeks. Irish theme. I've only been to one before. What do I take that won't break the bank?

I'd have to agree with wine, but since it's an Irish theme you could always do something like a bottle of Bailey's...

Great idea! I like that. And if they don't drink, I could bring a non alcoholic wine or some sparkling juice...

Good whiskey? Or Bailey's, Guinness, wine, something to that effect. You could also make Irish potatoes (coconut, cream cheese, sugar, rolled in cinnamon to look like little potatoes) if you want something non-alcoholic that the kids could eat (but not too many, just warning you, or they'll be crawling up the walls).

Something home-baked is always nice, and inexpensive. They don't necessarily have to serve it there, it could be something for them to have the next day.
