looking for foreclosures
What is the best website to search foreclosures in Northern VA? Every website seems to charge a monthly fee. Can a realtor pull all the foreclosures in a certain area?

All the MLS sites show foreclosures (along with others).
franklymls.com
redfin.com
zillow.com
homesdatabase.com
There are ways to try to limit your search on those to foreclosures only (varies by site) but you will definitely don't need to go to the paid sites.

I have looked at realtytrac.com and there are a lot more foreclosures on there website that haven't even hit the market.

You can get some limited information on realquest.com, without paying a fee.

I used redfin.com and franklymls.com to find my foreclosure. I then drove solo to the ones that looked promising. Then sent the ones that looked fine externally to my realtor so we could look at the insides.
I liked the bigger pics and map feature of franklymls, but the search function of redfin was nicer so I used both.

I've also used tbhse.com, and it has a foreclosure specific site at the top (I think tbfse.com). No fee, and the site also includes prior year property taxes.

Your Realtor can search for them by setting up key word searches in the remarks section of the listing or the financial information section of the MLS listing.

I found Redfin to be the best search engine when I was house shopping. There are a lot of similar ones, but I seemed to like theirs the best. You can search out foreclosures, or anything in your price range, with multiple limitations to narrow down your search. Their pages also listed a lot of good info on past sales prices, school districts, HOA fees, etc that were stripped out of the mls page.
