I would like to rent a townhouse in the NW Vienna area, continuing west as far as Reston, along the Dulles Access Rd. corridor (for my commute to DC /Metro Center area). I prefer to rent a privately owned TH with a community and less urban atmosphere and not an apartment/condo complex. Please let me know of any good neighborhoods, TH communities between Vienna and Reston. I have two grade-school age children so the school district is most important. Thanks.

If you work around Metro Center, you would probably rather commute by Metro than by car. It's about a 30-minute ride from the Vienna station, 27 from Dunn Loring. Keep in mind that the Toll Road is going to be chewed up pretty good at some point as Metro Silver Line construction gets going in earnest, and of course I-66 is HOV-2 inside the beltway until 9:00. Plus, all government and many private employers offer SmartBenefits, which will pick up as much as the first $120 a month of Metro fares for you tax free. Hard to beat if your employer has it.

There are a lot of townhomes around, particularly south and west of Vienna through Oakton and out to Fairfax, Fair Lakes, and Fair Oaks. Prices would probably run in the $1800-2500/mo range, depending on location and how spiffy the place was.

Older, single woman and her quiet shy 50 lb dog (Tess - a rescued dog) need a small, pets allowed furnished apartment or condo or townhouse in Reston. Available? Price range?

Thanks for any help you can give.

This is the perfect place for you! Reston Area Apartments for Rent - The Sycamores My son has great apartment there, it's walking distance to town center, and they allow dogs up to 80 pounds. The apartments are really nice with washer and dryer right in the kitchen, eat in space in the kitchen in addition to a dining room. Lots of trails for walking the pup and biking. I am not sure what they do about furnishing apartments but you could always rent furniture. Why aren't you bringing your own stuff?
