The Easter Egg roll has always been an extremely popular event, and there is just no way to get tickets to everyone who wants to come, no matter whom you know. Not sure why the Powers That Be decided to switch to an online system this year, but perhaps next year the tried but true method of standing in line will return.

No Congressional offices received White House Easter Egg Roll tickets this year. All tickets were distributed online, except for a small number reserved for DC Public Schools students and military families.

I heard that the idea to hand them out via the internet came from Michelle Obama, herself. She wanted to save people the trouble of standing in line.
It wasn't a bad idea, IMO. Too bad there were so many glitches in the system. Oh well.

The way I look at it, this is just one of a thousand things destined to be computerized in the next few years. There are bound to be glitches somewhere--this may have been a dry run of sorts, a relatively harmless way to test for glitches.

On the news they said it came from Desiree Rogers - the Social Secretary.
