Default Luray, Va

Hello,
I'm looking at getting a job in Luray, Va and wanted to get some more information on the area. The town looks beautiful but what are the people like there? Is it a affordable place to live on 37k a year? This will be my first full time job and want to move to a decent area and hopefully stay there for many years. I plan on renting a place to live that has a garage with it (motorcycles) and i'm not sure how easy that will be in such a small town. I'm moving from pa and can't stand how cold it gets, what are the winters like in this area?
thanks

Luray is a wonderful place, I do not live there, but know several people who do. It is a beautiful town, it's proximity to Shenandoah National Park and other nice locales gives it a big plus. As for the people, it is a mix of longtime locals retirees and folks who commute. It is not some backwater hick town. Country people mostly, but decent people. You will love it.

Luray won't have a large selection of jobs as it's not a large or highly populated area. The roads for riding motorcycles are top notch though. As far as the weather. It really depends on what part of PA you're in. You'll see some damn cold winters here as well. Hell, I thought we'd freeze to death in parts of January and Feb.

I'm from north central pa so basically from november - march i hate living here, too cold and too much snow. Obviously its cold in the winter in va too but i dont think it lasts nearly as long.

There are several open teaching positions in Luray, which is why i'm looking at the area. Plus like you said the roads for riding look great as well since that is a big hobby of mine. With the town being so small, i'm not sure how many places there are to rent or lease.

Winter here isn't that bad. I think we only had one storm with any real accumulation of maybe 6". It's been pretty mild the last few winters, but we do occasionally get some winters with multiple storms. It normally doesn't last more than a week or two thankfully since people around here don't know how to drive in the white stuff.

I have family near Front Royal and during the warm months ride up there on 2 wheels. There are some great roads to carve up out west. There are tons of wineries there too if you're into that.
