So you only selectively read news articles? There was a murder, which was nearly a double-murder in Loudon. There was a triple stabbing in Springfield. These are recent. Shall I go on?

You're just trying to start some stuff, aren't you? The mods need to delete your posts on this thread.

Duckz, interesting how politicians who like to "find new revenue streams" (aka "raise taxes") in an economic downturn, when residents and businesses can least afford them, won't eliminate the "new revenue streams" in an economic upturn. They find new ways to spend them, and then cry that they need yet more taxes at the next downturn in order to maintain the increases.
I get the crime report for my district from the district police station, which emails them out once a week, so you can contact your district station. Also the Washington Post prints them for all the districts in the county in the Fairfax Weekly insert section on Thursdays.

Good evening. My wife and I are moving to the Fairfax area and like other visitors would like to get a gist of the place.
Were working professionals, 30 something's & no children. We'd like to find an area that's reasonably priced, safe, somewhat secluded and has certain ammenities (grocery store - preferably a Trader Joe's within a reasonable distance..!). Unique though not overpriced restaurants available and plenty of outdoor activities in the immediate area (native Coloradans).
I say certain ammenities because we'd prefer not be near strip malls; or malls for that matter. As well as Wal-Marts, Starbuck's, tacky chain restaurants and other stores considered eyesores. I know in this day and age this is near impossible to find or run from though dare to dream, right?!
We'd very much like to find an area free of the, 'I want my mocchachino and I want it now' mantra.
Our intention isn't to come off as elitists. If possible, it'd be nice to discuss the area with some of you folks and possibly share a pint of Guinness upon our arriving!
Thank you for your time and input. Good day to all of you.

Paulb--Arlington sounds like it could really work for you. Check out North Arlington, zips 22205, 22203, 22201. Not sure what your price range is.
One thing I hear about the East versus CO is that our cold "stings" more. In other words, I hear Colorado winters are nicer because of the sun. Oh well, can't have everything here I guess. But I think you will find the most Colorado-minded (outdoorsy, etc.) in Arlington. Good luck to you and welcome!
