Moving to Manassas...
Hi! Just wanted some information on Manassas. Most questions are just relating to which area they should move.
I just want to know what Manassas is like. I've been on their website but that doesn't really explain much... I just know its historic. I am moving with a friend and have no idea about the area. We are both in our mid 20s. Does Manassas have much night life or things for 2 girls to do? Or is it an older town with and older age group?
Thanks for your help!

Yea I think the Manassas and surrounding towns are mostly family oriented, married couples with kids, not many people living out here in your age group I don't think. You might want to consider living closer to Alexandria or Roslyn for some of that night life.

That's not really possible because my friend alerady has a job in Manassas and is going to start next month. So those two places would be quite a commute. I don't mind family-oriented. Just would also like there to be fun things to do. The median age group for Manassas is 31 according to city-data. Where I live now it is 39. Is there not a night life at all?

If bars is your idea of night life then yes there is night life. There are plenty of young people in Manassas. I've lived here for over 30 years and can't wait to leave. Not trying to scare you away but I'm just tired of the traffic and many other problems here. The illegal immigration issue is a major one for Manassas and Prince William County. I've been in the mix of it and am tired of the whole situation. There are certain neighborhoods you have to avoid. Coverstone, Irongate, some places in Yorkshire and a few other places as well.

Well, that is a small part of what I'm considering night life. Just don't want to go out and find only older people with families, being that we are both single. How do I find out where those areas are located? We are going to be renting and I found a few apartments that seem pretty nice.. at least online.

City Tavern is in Old Town, and is the happening place for Manass. Also, Philadelphia Bar is popular. Both are close to the VRE. I live in Vegas, but my parents live in 20110. If you work there; good for you. You will save tons of money on commuting.
Siam Classic is a very good Thai Restaurant.

There are definitely bars in Manassas. It depends on what you're looking for.
The more yuppie, recent college grad, 20-something, trendy stuff is mostly Arlington/DC, maybe a sprinkle in Reston.
The born-and-raised in PW crowd is more what you see at Manassas bars. More age and socioeconomically diverse. It will not be all single 20-somethings as in Arlington, but there will be some.
Both scenes have their appeal.

I don't know if they're still around, but the Sharks Club is in chantilly which isn't too far from Manassas. I stopped going after I saw some older coworkers hitting on the jail bait

So, basically I'm not going to feel like Manassas is an "old" town with nothing to do? That's what I'm concerned about.
