There is also a Super Target in Gainesville...might be quicker to get to for some people as it is closer to the freeway, though they are doing a lot of consturcion on the 29 right there so that might slow things down a bit too.

There is also a Trader Joe's in FFX City, near the intersection of Pickett and Little River Turnpike. The store is small and the parking lot is kind of a death trap, but TJ's is a great place to shop. You can't get everything there, but the things you can get are great quality and decent prices.

That Giant is pretty nice. It opens into an indoor mall area where they sell seasonal plants among other things.
The Safeway at the intersection of Lee Chapel and Old Keene Mill is a bit bigger. It has a Starbucks and a pretty decent selection of prepared foods (sushi, soups, sandwiches, etc.).

Whole Foods is in West Springfield... maybe 15 min. from Burke Centre and Wegmans in Fairfax.

Burke "rundown?" You must live in a part of Burke I have yet to see! Please, let's not turn Burke/W. Springfield into another Rt 1 or Tysons area. If having predominantly nice neighborhoods is "plain," then that's for me. I would guess that this community's character as presently exists is what attracts people to it, not "disways" newcomers.

There is a great Whole Foods in the Fair Oaks section of Fairfax. It's just about 10 minutes from Burke Centre, right off Fairfax County Parkway. The store is HUGE, in fact that's where Emeril tapes his Emeril Green show.

No, I know people who do that too, but my closest grocery store is a Safeway that has gone pretty down hill in the last 2 years since we moved here. I go to Wegmans, which is close to home but not the closest, because I like their inventory, quality and overall prices for what we buy.

I do, too except I also make a once per month trip to Trader Joe's and Costco.

Burke is a nice town with lots of trees but a complete no where land when it comes to nice mid priced chain restaurants. Can anyone name a sit down chain restaurant in Burke?
