Hello, I currently live in Pennsylvania and would like to relocate to a nice area of northern virginia and i would like to use my sec 8 being it's so expensive to live there. I have two school age children, boy 16 and girl 12. We are a very nice family, we love peace and quiet, and we're not trouble makers. My son loves football and track and would be interested in wrestling, and my daughter likes gymnastics. They are good kids who don't like to fight and just want to make good friends. Can anyone tell me which areas in nova would be nice for us, no gangs and a peaceful area where some landlords will be willing to accept my sec 8? When some people hear sec 8 they think oh boy, there goes the neighborhood, but we're not like that. We're clean, quiet, and good christian people who just want to live a good and happy peaceful existence. We'd need a 3 or 4 bedroom. We were looking at the area of brooke point high school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why did you feel it necessary to put the smiley emoticon in front of your title?

I would think the Sec. 8 program would be a better place to get suggestions than this forum. It's just not something people tend to know. Good luck to you, and if you do decide to move here, welcome to Virginia.

Do you know if a Section 8 voucher transferable from one state to another? Why do you want to move to a MORE expensive area -- do you have a job lined up?

I wish I knew where the section 8 housing was. NOVA is MUCH more expensive than PA - in fact - PA is one of the cheapest states to live in. Why leave PA?

Rental Housing Programs*- Fairfax County, Virginia

You might want to try that website. I'm just familiar with Fairfax county. Don't know anything about Stafford but it is supposed to be pretty nice though, very suburban. Just start looking at different apartments and see who is accepting section 8. Good luck!

I can't stand PA. I believe i would like VA. The beauty and all the lush greenery and it's a little warmer there. I work in the administrative field and i believe i can find decent work there.

Cause section 8 comes with a negative rep based on those in some projects in my area. Sec 8 has been used and abused by so many people for years that it's almost laughable. I've seen kids grow up and become parents with kids of their own and never leave sec 8. I realize there are people who need the boost or help but I also know many people abuse it. Hence the bewilderment with the smiley face.
