In the UK we call them GPs, the guy you go to first when you have something minor/non emergency.

We've just moved to the US and would like to get signed up with a practice. Can anyone recommend one of ^ these in the Reston/Herndon area?

Yes, you would be looking for a General Practitioner or Family Physician.

It could also be called a Primary Care Physician (for insurance purposes).

But you won't be going to the "Surgery" as it is called in the UK. You will be going to the office. Was very confusing while living across the pond..I thought everyone was getting surgery all the time!

Seperated by a common language as they say!

I was confused when women in UK kept asking me for a shag, I thought they were referring to making my hair puffy or disorderly.

Hahaha, I had a British friend who went into Sav-On looking for pencil erasers. She asked for "rubbers" and was very surprised to see what the clerk pointed to.

BTW, best of luck with your move. I think you'll like Reston/Herndon.

At least she wasn't asking for a "***"... no offense to anyone on that!

BUT... if you had been at the salon and wanted your "bangs" cut...you might have gotten a "shag" .

This is going downhill fast....

The auto edit button cut the word out...I think everyone can figure it out...starts with an f...ends with a g...
