I am moving to the D.C. area from Arizona and need to find a place to keep my boat - are there any lakes/marina's in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area? Is the Potomac the only option for waterskiing? I have a jet boat and I'd like to take it with me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can jet ski on the Potomac-too many rocks plus that river tide thing. Google the state of VA and look up state parks. Lots of lakes here for that I am sure.

You should check out Lake Anna. It's south of D.C. but shouldn't be too far away to be an inconvenience. Here's their website:

There's a LOT more water close by NOVA than in Arizona. The 100 miles of the tidal Potomac are a boaters' paradise. If you get tired of that, the Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States with 11,684 miles of shoreline.

I've been boating here since I was a kid in the 50's (the last 35 years in a classic 57 foot Chris*Craft)...and I haven't seen it all yet.

On a nice summer weekend, there are thousands of jet skis, water skiiers, 80+ mph bass boats...water craft of every description buzzing around on the Potomac....you'll even see blown, fuel drag boats out there on a calm day...

BRING YOUR BOAT, DUDE!!!

Default water skiing around DC

Lake Anna is about 90 min away - by far the best and closest

we also ski in potomac near pentagon is good but not after rain - gets very difficult with tree limbs - also water not most pure but acceptable if well after rain storms and things have settled - we have skiied countless times in potomac and no problems
