Safety concern in 22312
Well we found our dream house. The only problem it is not in our dream location. It is right off Pinecrest Vista Dr in Alexandria, 22312. Community looks really nice but I have concerns about the area in general. We are a married couple in our mid 20s, no kids, currently live in 22304. Please suggest if it is a good choice for a house to stay in for a couple of years?

Pinecrest is a very nice community. There is that small shopping center nearby that has an award-winning restaurant, cannot remember the name.
Yes, the 22312 zip code has more crime associated with compared to say Falls Church City or Vienna, but most of that would be closer to Beaurguard Street.

I dont think it is much different crime-wise than anything you experience in 22304. I wouldnt worry.

It's a nice community - also TJHSST campus is right across 236 (Minor Lane).

I know absolutely nothing about that area. I just want to say, I think most people go about house hunting backwards. They look for a house that they want, not paying as much attention to the neighborhood as they should. Instead, find the neighborhood you want to live in, and then look for a house in that neighborhood that will meet your needs. A house can be changed. A neighborhood cannot. Just my 2 cents.

My SO currently rents a townhouse in the Pinecrest and I can vouch that it's a quiet and safe community. There have been a few incidents of theft from vehicles and minor vandalism, but nothing that is rampant and frankly, this happens just about anywhere. From a safety standpoint you really should have no problem. The HOA also does an excellent job on maintaining the parking lots and common areas.
The only downside is that parking is limited and getting out of the development and onto 236 can be a challenge.

There's a great dog park right near there.
