I also really enjoys the crab cakes at Mikes American Grill but had even better ones at Chef Geoff's in DC. That's an easy metro trip from Arlington..

I am not sure about crabcakes, but if you want crabs in a "shack" atmosphere in Arlington try the Quarterdeck. Many of the other suggestions are refined dining places not conducive to doing some messy eating on a sheet of paper over a picnic table.
