If your priority is the school district then I recommend Springfield, Virginia zip code 22153. It's not that far from Fort Belvoir if you're worried about the commute. If you're considering on post then the schools are much better than off post in that area. Springfield, VA schools and neighborhoods are much better in my opinion. Good Luck

You may want to mention that due to overcrowding some kids from the DOD school (Ft. Belvoir ES) are being reassigned to an off-base school (Woodlawn ES) and the schools in that area are the worst in Fairfax County.

I agree that the school on post is not very good. My friend taught there 1 year and then transferred. The class sizes are huge and the school is very overcrowded. As a PP said, they are being transferred off-post.

We are military and DH works at Belvoir. We live in Lake Ridge, 22192. The school our kids go to is really good and we like this area. We really liked the Kingstowne area and it's proximity to post, but it was out of our price range.
