We are thinking about moving to Winchester, My oldest son plays lacrosse and football in high school. He is 16. My daughter is 16 and plays softball. Does Lacrosse exist in any of the high schools there? What are some of the best scholls for football and softball?

It doesn't look like the high school has lacrosse - Handley High School Athletics (http://www.wps.k12.va.us/jhhsathl/athlhome.cfm - broken link), but this may be of some interest: Sportsplex Lacrosse

How ironic. Just talked to a friend who works/lives in Winchester and they do not have Lacrosse there.

None of the Winchester-area schools have lacrosse...you'd have to go east to Loudoun County to find that. A lot of Loudoun schools also have strong softball programs.

The main football schools in the Winchester area would be Handley (Winchester City) and Sherando (Stephens City). Both have been playoff regulars in recent years and sent players on to college. James Wood (Frederick County just outside Winchester) has been solid in recent years after a very bad period, and Millbrook (also Frederick County) is also decent.

I don't know how far outside Winchester you are willing to look but Loudoun Valley in Purcellville (Western Loudoun, 25-30 miles from Winchester) has one of the best softball programs in the state and one of the best lacrosse programs outside Fairfax County. Football has struggled the last couple years after moving to a tougher district but they have had some good teams in the past.

Loudoun County is probably the strongest AA district in the state, in all reality, they should be AAA.
