Interesting episode at a McLean Bank
I was at a McLean bank today and there was a black lady already there when I arrived. She was speaking loudly but I tuned her out as I waited to be helped. As she continued to speak, you couldn't help but hear what the subject was about.
She was basically polling all the male tellers and asking them if their girlfriends made love to them the right way. Then she polled the female tellers and asked if they treated their men right. She then offered some stupendous advice to the women by saying if they treated their men right, that they would get houses, cars, anything they wanted. Then she noticed a new teller who so happened to be a brotha, and asked "hey sweet chocolate, are you new here?"
The only thing the workers could do was to smile, be agreeable, and go along with this tasteless episode. Most people who didn't work there were either shocked or appalled, but clearly embarrassed. I'm an easy going person, but this went on for at least 15 minutes.
What would possess someone to to act like that in public? I'm thinking she was sober.

I'm sure she thought she was being friendly. But some people just have a unfortunate excess of personality and don't realize how uncomfortable they make other people feel.

Mental health issue? Maybe she's the resident homeless person who's harmless and pops by every so often to keep some interaction with society?

Unfortunately, she looked like a totally normal person for the most part, somewhat nicely dressed in a dress, and was at the bank to process a transaction that took forever.
She to me, just didn't seem like someone who knew how to act/behave in public settings

I think that lady caught them off guard. I would have told the lady that was not her business.

Cultural difference is all. From her point of view, she was just being friendly. I'd rather that sort of episode than an *****hole yelling at me any day.

This subject might be more appropriate for the Relationships forum... maybe. I'm also not sure about the relevance of the lady's ethnicity.
In any case, thread closed.
