tysons2008 is on a distinguished road
Default Live in Purcellville, work in Tysons - is it doable? anyone do it or know someone?

My wife and I are looking to purchase a home in Ashburn/Leesburg area...but my wife is looking to take a couple years off to raise our two young daughters (3 and under) and potential another child in another year or two. Some folks mentioned Purcellville as a possibility. I work in Tysons....wondering if anyone does that commute or know of anyone.

I don't personally know anyone who does this, so I'm just going from a guess. But FWIW, here's my gut reaction: that sounds like something you'd truly grow to hate. Not worth it, IMO.

Many people do it, but it's a long commute, close to an hour, under the best of circumstances. I know people who commute from Lovettsville to DC, which is 75 to 90 minutes, without tie ups. It all depends on what you can handle and how much time you want to be away from your family. It's tradeoffs that only you can weigh.
