Hi everybody.

ten years ago I worked 3 years for a German company in Reston, VA
In September i will visit again VA. I am already very exited.

While thinking about the places I want to visit.. the club we went to every Saturday.. came into my mind. I remeber that it was called "Blackies". But i cant remember the city. It was approx. a 30 min ride from Sterling.

There were two dancefloors in the club.. on with R&B / Chart Music and one with Country Music.

Does anyone know the club? I would love to visit it again..

I think that club was in Springfield. Today the grounds it stood on is part of the mixing bowl series of ramps at 95 and 395 (if I'm remembering correctly).

I used to go to Blackie's in the Franconia area of Springfield 15 or more years ago (probably closer to 20 -yikes!). I believe it closed down some time ago, maybe early 2000's. Too bad, it was a fun place.

Sorry, bummer .

But I'm sure there are other fun clubs opened now that weren't here 10 years ago....

Yes, Blackie's closed a long time ago. I never went there but drove past it a lot. If you remember the address you lived at, you can do a satellite and possibly street view on google maps and probably an aerial view at zillow.com.

Was it DEJAVU? The original Blackies is about 19th and M; I think that was the original DejaVu.
Corner of Commerce st. and Frontier Dr. Remember Valle's Steak House?

Kent's Chronicle: Blackie's House Of Beef in DC is out of business and its furnishings are to be auctioned this Wednesday . . . say it ain't so, Joe (http://hkentcraig.blogspot.com/2006/03/blackies-house-of-beef-in-dc-is-out-of.html - broken link)
Yes, I think they did call the bar/dance area DejaVu. It's been quite a while, but that name does sound very familiar.
