That's by Fox Mill Road and Fairfax County Parkway, right? If it's the neighboorhood I'm thinking of, most of your neighboors will have Ph.D's and 6 figure salaries. Reston and Herndon is pretty much the same area; you can't tell when you leave one city and enter the next. I lived there in the 80's and 90's and go back to visit frequentely. I'd guess that the person that said that the crime rate is rising due to illegal immigrants is probably the type that likes to blame all of societies problems on illegal immigrants. There are large amounts of immigrants in the area, illegal and legal, (mostly hispanic, but alot of indians too) mainly along Elden Street and in the Lake Anne area. Most of them are hard working people who are just looking for an opportunity to live the American dream. As for crime, it was alot worse there in the 80's and 90's. While crime in the area may be higher than avarage for Northern Virginia, it's probably about avarage compared to the rest of the country and most of it is concentrated into areas that aren't close to where you're thinking about moving. If you use common sense, crime shouldn't be an issue. Schools shouldn't be an issue either since Fairfax County schools also have very good reputation. What you do have to worry about is the cost of living. Some rich people live like their middle class and the middle class live like they are poor because it costs so much to live there. I've lived in Northern Virginia, The Bay area and LA and I feel that out of all 3 of those areas, Nova is the most expensive.
