HAWTHORNE Division in Lovettsville
Does anyone have any experience with the Hawthorne Subdivision in Lovettsville? My husband and I are selling our townhouse in Sterling to find a larger house and more land. I'm curious if anyone has any experience in this subdivision and/or area of Lovettsville in general. We work in Herndon so are looking to move out but not too far.

Can you tell me where in Lovettsville that is? I have not heard of it and I live in Lovettsville.
We love Lovettsville, but you have to like rural. If you have kids, things may be more complicated since you have to drive farther for everything. The closest drug stores and grocery stores are 15 minutes away, depending on how far you are from Berlin Turnpike. People in Lovettsville LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, horses. Boarding horses appears to be the number one industry here, although vineyards are a close second. There are lots of dirt roads which the horsey folks love and do NOT want paved. If you have kids, it's not likely that they can run out the door and find someone to play with since most people live too far from their neighbors. Like I said, it's rural out here. The mountains are beautiful, the sunsets are gorgeous. You'll see deer every single day, and more birds than you can imagine, including wild turkeys. Also lots of rabbits and foxes, and I haven't even mentioned cattle. Seems every farm that doesn't have horses has black angus cattle. You'll see more stars than you've seen. When we first moved here I couldn't believe how dark it was at night and how quiet it was all the time. You'll never hear a siren, or anything else, other than the cows mooing and at night you hear the frogs if you live near one of the many ponds. There's no crime, other than than the chicken fighters who got busted, and crazy Annie who takes too many free creamers from the gas station mini mart. The elementary school is referred to as the Little House on the Prairie School. Their motto is the School that Begins with Love. Parents love it. http://cmsweb2.loudoun.k12.va.us/lovettsville/site/default.asp
It's a small town, everyone knows everyone, particularly if you have kids in school. People are very friendly. When you drive down the road, everyone waves, whether they've actually met you or not. It's the country! Everyone supports everyone else. It's also very white. I have seen a couple of Black families, and two Hispanic families that I know of. I also know one Vietnamese family. Overall, I'd guess the area is at least 90% white. If you are looking for a very diverse area, you won't find it in Western Loudoun. But you will find lots of horses!

Ok, thanks for the map. I found the Windermere subdivision, although the map is quite wrong. Windermere is the other side of Lovettsville. Same with Bruce, it's on the other side. But I am still not seeing anything marked Hawthorne. Can you tell me a little bit more, where to find it on this map?
I realized that since most people don't live in subdivisions out here we just where we live, like down Morrisonville Road, or over on April Circle. New Town Meadows seems to be the exception to that, perhaps because it is a large development.

Ah, yes, thanks. It's one or two houses down Rickard Road on what you used to be the Hawthorne's farm. It's not really a sub division, just various houses on a dirt road.
I looked at that house last year. It's a great looking house and great for horses, but it was too farm down a dirt road for us. But people here LOVE their dirt roads, better for their horses.
