Default Re : Planned Community near Fairfax/Vienna/Oakton/MCLean

Hello There,

Hope all is well. I am relatively new in NOVA and looking to buy SFH/TWH in about 650-700 K range....near Fairfax/Vienna/Mclean/Oakton. Me and my wife were looking more for Planned community like that PenderBrook in Fairfax.

we were impresssed with PenderBrook because it looked moving all time and had lot of amenities. On the negatives, it looked kinda crowded with Condos/TWH/SFH all crammed in.

We were really impressed with Vienna area....it looked very active / Young / Vibrant and was looking for any planned community there. I couldn't find anything similar to that of PenderBrook in Vienna.

I was just wondering if you experts had any recommendations here. I kinda liked "Virginia Center" in Vienna and "Madillion Court" in Mclean. But PenderBrook stood apart in terms of planned community. Was looking for suggestions here....

Thanks in advance,

Sam

What does a planned community mean? What does it offer that you want?

I don't believe there are many in these areas. Have you asked a realtor? There are some other townhouse and single family home communities that have their own pool/playground.

I'm guessing that you mean an HOA? One of the larger ones that involve community centers, shopping, etc.? If so, you're in luck. There are lots of those in NOVA. I don't know the specific ones you're mentioning--I'd recommend stopping to talk to the neighbors there and seeing what they think. If you don't like a specific HOA, there are plenty more to choose from. But do try to find a place close to work. Long commutes become a real headache here.

The condos were previously apartments. The only Penderbrook I'm aware of is the little development squeezed in between Waples Mill and Route 50 where Reston Ave (West Ox Rd) intersects Route 50.
